At PCA, employees enjoy work-life balance, competitive salaries, and comprehensive medical (with FSA or HSA), dental, life, and disability insurance, as well as profit sharing, 401(k), and paid time off starting at three weeks per year.nnLearn more about Primary Care Associates at ****Attributesu2022 Considers compassionate, skillful, patient care a top priorityu2022 Takes ownership for personal growth and developmentu2022 Works as a team for the good of the team and its commitment to patient careu2022 Calm demeanor and functions well in stressful situationsu2022 Able to maintain good relationships and communicate well with patients, families, staff and physiciansnnRepresentative Dutiesnu2022 Perform waived and moderate-complexity patient laboratory testing.nu2022 Perform calibration on laboratory equipment to ensure the accuracy of instrumentation.u2022 Perform background count and run three levels of hematology and immunoassay controls to ensure proper instrument functioning.u2022 Perform and record two levels of chemistry and ESR controls to ensure reagent integrity and proper instrument functioning.u2022 Perform and record quality control on qualitative PCR test.u2022 Perform and record two levels of urine controls to ensure dipstick quality.u2022 Perform and record serology controls.u2022 Monitor and record refrigerator, freezer, humidity, and room temperatures to ensure no temperature fluctuations.u2022 Participate in proficiency testing, CAP (College of American Pathologists) surveys and API (American Proficiency Institute) to meet regulatory requirements and to monitor laboratory performance and accuracy.u2022 Perform microscopic techniques and procedures.u2022 Process patient samples for testing.u2022 Analysis of critical lab results and when to notify the providers.u2022 Determine specimen validity and integrity prior to testing.u2022 Interpret, evaluate, and verify test results.u2022 Resolve inconsistent patient results and document appropriately.u2022 Inform the providers or clinics of recollection if a specimen is unsuitable for testing.u2022 Maintain and perform scheduled, unscheduled maintenance and troubleshooting on lab analyzers and equipment when necessary and proper documentation.u2022 Perform calibration verification every six month on lab equipment.u2022 Provide support to other lab staff when there is a test in question for send out specimen.u2022 Maintain appropriate communication and good interpersonal skills with manager, staff, and providers, to ensure coordinated efforts and provision of high-quality service.u2022 Communicate directly with the department supervisor or manager to report concerns, personal requests, and patient issues.u2022 Maintain an orderly and professional working environment.u2022 Report to work properly dressed according to approved dress code.u2022 Adhere to department guidelines concerning scheduled working hours and break periods.u2022 Good communication skills with providers, colleagues, patients and provide customer service when question arises pertaining to laboratory testing and procedures.u2022 Participate in laboratory quality assessment by proper documentation on laboratory logs and checklists.u2022 Activate laboratory orders from patient electronic health record through laboratory information system (LIS).u2022 Ensure lab orders are crossing over to LIS to prevent incomplete lab testing.u2022 Verify laboratory test results in the computer system.u2022 Monitor and maintain lab supplies and reagents to avoid unnecessary expedited orders.u2022 Willingness to travel for training of new lab equipment, if necessary.u2022 Participate in continuing education programs to update lab skills knowledge.u2022 Stay current with license and certifications.u2022 Perform related work and other duties as required and assigned.nWork EnvironmentWork is performed in a clinical laboratory environment.
