Assistant Research Scientist Level II-NL Grade 15 |
| Job Profile |
 |
Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is the highest intensity service that can be received in the outpatient setting for people with severe mental illness. ACT teams have low case ratios, multidisciplinary mobile teams, and provide care in community settings for clients who have not been able to engage in traditional services. Although originally conceived as a life-long service, the belief that people with schizophrenia would need this high intensity service for life does not comport with more recent findings indicating 1/3 or more people with schizophrenia can fully recover over time. An Assistant Research Scientist is needed to work with ACT teams in New York City and/or New York State to implement and evaluate a new model of ACT teams. The incumbent will liaison with ACT teams, run focus groups with clinicians and consumers, and collect data on the current system. The Assistant Research Scientist will work with the project team to develop a training package with materials for consumers and staff and will help with the dissemination of the step down program. The incumbent will collect evaluation data from the clinics and enter the data into the study database. The incumbent will also assist with routine tasks related to the program such as monitoring evaluation schedules, scheduling meetings, sending correspondence, making copies, and taking minutes at meetings.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience or at least 30 hours of graduate study in related field.

Requires good interpersonal skills in order to engage ACT team staff and consumers. Previous work in a mental health setting or on a mental health study preferred.
