The Knowledge and Data Team at Microsoft Bing Information Platform is looking for an Applied Scientist with outstanding technology development skills to work on Microsoft’s ranking and relevance technology. Today, search software and services are a rapidly evolving industry. As one of Microsoft’s most exciting initiatives, knowledge is at the basis of modern search experiences and powering natural user interfaces - especially for user experiences in the mobility and entertainment domains.
You will be joining a team dedicated to developing the algorithms and processes for ingestion, conflation, and computation of data into knowledge powering search and information browsing experiences like the ones in Xbox Music and Videos, Windows Phone Marketplace Search, and Windows Search.
We are looking for a high achiever with ranking and relevance R&D; background that is characterized by concrete contributions that have advanced the state of the art of either commercial or academic machine learning systems. As member of the Knowledge and Data Team, you will help drive the development of knowledge extraction technology as enabled by one of the world’s largest data stores. You must have a track record of energetic innovation and creative vision that connects with your passion to deliver great customer experiences.
Essential attributes and competencies include: Excellence in scientific thinking and execution. A passion for new UI paradigms incorporating knowledge technologies. Ability to own and drive experimental definition, investigations, development and ultimately share responsible for the knowledge computation performance of key scenarios that enable the release of new Microsoft products and services.
Additional qualifications for this position include:
PhD in CS or similar (with focus in one or more of Statistical Modeling, Search, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Knowledge and Data Computation) or equivalent experience.
4 - 7 years of R&D; in an Academic or Commercial setting.
Software development skills, aptitude for software algorithm design and coding.
3 years of experience in C#/C and programming with scripting languages are highly desirable.
