WIN PEOPLE – WIN JOBS – EXECUTE The Intermediate Environmental Scientist/Environmental Engineer position is a full-time permanent position located in our Edmonton, AB Infrastructure & Environment office. This position is part of Contaminated Sites Group and reports directly to a Senior Client Manager and Team Lead. Our Edmonton staff are mentored by senior consultants in the in Phase 1 and 2 environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater monitoring, groundwater modelling, geochemistry and natural attenuation, risk assessment, ex situ and in situ remediation, and environmental liability management. We have groundwater, soils, risk assessment, reclamation and remediation internal technical groups that are open to WorleyParsons consultants with an interest in professional and technical development. The groups meet regularly and present opportunities to learn from senior scientists and engineers working in both the Contaminated Sites and Water Resources sectors. Our Edmonton office has a solid client base built on a reputation for technically superior work with some of our client’s more technically challenging and involved sites. The Contaminated Sites Group is looking for a motivated self-starter who is interested in gaining environmental consulting experience in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution plus appropriate continuing education in environmental science or engineering, geology, or equivalent; Four to five years of direct experience; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Excellent organizational, problem solving and client management skills; Exceptional leadership skills; Adept at multi-tasking; Experience in mentoring and training junior staff; Experience in a resource industry, such as oil and gas or mining, either as a consultant or industry employee; Registered (or eligible for registration) as either a professional or member in training with a professional organization, such as APEGGA, or equivalent ; and Basic computer skills – MS Office suite as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. A portion of the role involves conducting fieldwork in various outdoor locations in urban or rural settings in Alberta. Job Requirements Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities: As the successful candidate, your duties could include the following: Project management and successful execution of environmental site assessments and remediation programs, including the development and maintenance of project scopes, schedules and budgets, and coordination of junior staff; Preparation and/or review of technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets; Interpretation of environmental regulations and investigation results to successfully meet the clients requirements; Quality assurance – responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Contaminated Sites Group; and Responsible for personal safety and the safe working practices for the Contaminated Sites Group.
