Job Description
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in biology, engineering, science or other technical discipline. Well-qualified candidates will have extensive laboratory experience, strong writing and presentation skills in English, excellent organizational skills, the ability to work under time constraints, and a desire to learn about new technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Create sales sheets, posters, articles, brochures, and press releases
Write scientific and technical specifications, marketing materials and user instructions and manuals for products, processes and services for internal and external use.
Update Technical Data sheets
Maintain documentation in a standard format following established guidelines.
Review documents for style, clarity, grammar, and punctuation
Lead special projects
Periodically attend tradeshows to gain a broader understanding of the photonics industry
Respond to requests for clarification or explanation of reference materials and technical documentation.
Requirements
Strong writing and presentation skills in English.
Laboratory experience beyond basic laboratory courses.
Well qualified candidates will have participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) or a senior honors project.
This person needs to have good computer skills and must pay attention to detail.
The technical writer will work closely with graphic artists to create presentations.

The technical writer works with management, R&D; and Manufacturing to develop an understanding of the product, component, or device changes.
