The Sr. Scientist - Algorithm Development is responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and validating robust algorithms for use in flow cytometry system. Provide thorough and complete documentation for the entire design and development effort including detailed designs with analysis, development and verification plans, and subsequent summary reports. Determines and recommends the design direction and methodology for new algorithm development, tools and algorithm test workbenches. Duties will include application of existing data analysis techniques as well as development of novel approaches where appropriate.
Develop and optimize algorithms for use in BD clinical application of Flow Cytometry. Understand existing algorithms used in BD clinical applications of Flow Cytometry.
Develop data mining algorithms to analyze high dimensional data generated by flow cytometers, and develop visualization algorithms to enable an effective and informative display of high dimensional data.
Perform modeling & design using tools such as Matlab, R-Project, and other related tools.
Transfer the optimized algorithms to software engineers for implementation (in different computer language); ensure that the implementation agrees with the optimized algorithm design.
Participates in decision making regarding algorithm development and provides information on feasibility of prospective projects.
Participates in project planning.
Provide thorough and complete documentation for the entire design, development, optimization, and verification of the algorithms by following the algorithm development process at BDB.
Initiates interaction with other departments to maintain open information channels and to get a better understanding of how algorithm design may be affected by such factors as chemistry and biological processes.
Prepares and reviews patent applications and manuscripts for publication or presentation at technical meetings where appropriate. Participates in customer laboratory visits to understand customer needs and competitor's products. Maintains knowledge of existing BDIS products. Combines this with knowledge of competitor's offerings for application to future products.
Continues pursuit of knowledge through seminars and contact with members of profession at technical meetings at national and international level. Develops and maintains liaison with professional, scientific and academic experts. ','!*!Qualifications:
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 5 year experiences in the development of algorithms and software for scientific and engineering applications
Assets:
Prefer PhD or Master's degree
Prefer degree in Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Physics, Computational Biology, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry
Strong mathematics and science background with sound analytical/computational skills and proficiency in pattern recognition, classification, and data mining.
Solid hands-on experience with expertise in a modeling environment such as R-project, Matlab and a programming language such as C, C#, and/or C preferably in Microsoft Windows environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of design principles, methodologies, tools and techniques as well as state-of-the-art technologies, theories, and principles in algorithm development.
Demonstrated ability to adapt and perform well in an environment of constant change and improvement.
Demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.
