Overview: Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting and planning, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Stantec is One Team providing Infinite Opportunities Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage and conduct Biological inventories with a focus on communities and species of concern that include rare species, Environmental impact assessments, A variety of natural resource planning projects (boreal, parkland, prairie or North of 60) Senior level project management. Data analysis and management. Mapping using ArcView. Report preparation. Client liaison. Supervision of project teams. Some field work as required. Proposal writing Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess the following: Bachelors or Masters of Science in a related discipline from a recognized university. Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience which includes some consulting experience. Extensive experience with vegetation and EIA legislation and regulatory agencies (e.g. EUB, NEB, and CEAA). Experience with Western Canada ecosystems. Botanical and vegetation inventory survey experience including taxonomy and species identification. Experience leading Environmental Assessments. Strong written and verbal communication skills (publications should include peer reviewed technical papers and regulatory submissions). Experience and skills in rare plants would be a definite asset. Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping experience would be an asset.
