Job Description and Duties
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) - FACILITIES & DEVELOPMENT/SOUTHERN SERVICE CENTER/RESOURCES
The reporting location for this position is the Southern Service Center in San Diego. This position will work under the general supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).
The incumbent will serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists and professionals serving State Parks in the southern portion of the state. The primary responsibility of the position will be to provide natural resource expertise for park development projects, including project scoping, environmental review, wildlife/plant surveys, report writing, avoidance and minimization measures, permit acquisition, contract writing, construction monitoring, mitigation planning, and habitat restoration. The incumbent will also prepare natural resource inventories and management goals and guidelines for natural resources for inclusion in General Plans and Land Management Plans. Field inventories will also typically require digital data collection, processing, and management involving the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.
This position requires a valid California Class “C” driver’s license. Please provide proof of eligibility with application.
