Title: Technical Lead-DNA Scientist Location: Newark, De Schedule: M-F 8am-5pm Type: Direct/Permanent Start date: Immediate The Technical Lead is responsible for strategic technical guidance to proactively improve performance, reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness of customers’ solutions using industry best practices. Lead R&D; projects to bring in new technologies, including validations, qualifications, troubleshooting, writing technical papers. Responsibilities: It is expected that the post holder will most influence the successful delivery of this result by: n n Technical Responsibilities n n a. Manages R&D; projects in the lab including research and testing of new technologies. n b. Research new technologies and capabilities and develop internal methods. n c. Provide technical support, guidance and troubleshoot any problems associated with lab services. n d. Lead technical innovation and automation for the services provided to customers. n e. Manage timelines and milestones for development, Integrations, launches, and QA. n f. Work closely with Management to assists in the training of new technologies and oversees staff training, verifying that the primary and backup personnel are trained to safely perform all required job functions, and maintains corresponding training records. n g. Verify report resulting data and maintain result records according to the SOPs. n h. Write and revise Standard Operation procedures. n i. Write technical papers/blogs and assist in webinars. n j. Communication: information gathering, status reports creation, issue solving recommendations. n k. Technical planning and preparation: analysis of technical requirements, solution proposals and risk analysis. n l. Work closely with the Quality Manager, Data Manager and upper management on planning and execution of equipment validations, qualifications and troubleshooting activities. n m. Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning according to the SOPs. n n. Reviews and approves calibration certifications, services results, COAs for supplies (as applicable), and similar documents. n o. Participate in lab meetings and generate ideas for improving efficiency and productivity in the laboratory operations. n n Adherence to regulatory and accreditor requirements – n n a. Participates in laboratory audits/assessments. n n Provide customer support and maintain satisfaction which includes – n n a. Act as a customer liaison for the company at customer-facing events. n b. Responding to customer inquiries expediently (within 24hrs) and provide professional advice. n n This role will impact Customer satisfaction and the success of the company through effective handling and processing of Customer samples, and maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure accreditation and cGMP-compliance. n nRequirements: n n Bachelor’s degree in life science with 6 years of experience in technical role n Technical expertise in all laboratory functions, services, and regulations (including microbiology lab techniques, DNA sequencing, MALDI-TOF, FAME, taxonomy, cGMP/GLP, ISO 17025) n Familiarity with multiple regulatory requirements n Computer skills – all Office software and specialized software including sequencing and MALDI-TOF n At least 5 years of experience in a technical setting n Experience speaking with Customers at tradeshows, in person, and via phone call n Ability to travel to Customer-facing events n nWorking Conditions: Generally, the work environment consists of ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office/lab setting. Safety glasses and gloves are available and may be required for some laboratory procedures. Some aspects of the position require fine vision skills. For the most part no heavy lifting is required to perform the job responsibilities, on an average lifting 20lbs or less due to shipments received. Individuals may be required to occasionally travel, for example industry tradeshows or on-site client meetings.
