These include (1) mathematical programming solvers (linear and mixed-integer), and (2) discrete search solvers (primarily used for production schedule sequence optimization). The Solver Scientist will have a detailed understanding of the mathematics, logic and optimization strategies used in the businesses’ planning solvers as well as the master data and cost penalty structures used. The Scientist will also have an in-depth knowledge of the business supply chain product flows and objectives. The Scientist will advise business planning personnel on how best to use and refine OMP solver output to optimize supply chain planning and performance and optimize financial performance.
This position reports to a Continuous Improvement Team Leader and will be responsible for jointly developing, deploying, training, and monitoring best practices within this focus area. Running solvers and interpreting output
Varying solver parameters to explore supply chain options to address constraints and other business scenarios
Working with SMEs and business team members to interpret solver output and incorporate into monthly Supply Management processes
Providing internal E&I; support for ongoing analysis and model tuning/updates
Analyzing patterns in data; building models, designing experiments, and testing hypotheses
