The Department of Environmental Quality is looking for an Environmental
Scientist III for their Division of Air Quality. This position may be
filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on
the job level offered within the series. Job Description
As an
Environmental Scientist you will typically be:
Interpreting and quality checking intricate air emissions inventory
data
Interpreting intricate rules and permits
Working knowledge of Utah s State and Local Emission Inventory
System (SLEIS) and TEMPO
Clearly documenting work so it can be replicated and understood at a
later time
Assisting facilities with understanding and entering data into SLEIS
Ideal Candidate
The ideal person for this position will possess:
Familiarity with the specific air pollution issues within the state
Proficient in working with Excel,Google Sheets,the Google Suite,and
databases
Ability to stay engaged,proactive,and consistent while analyzing
intricate data,rules,and permits
Proficient working with Utah s State and Local Emission Inventory
System application
Familiarity with emissions inventory development
Experience with data analysis
Experience communicating complex emission calculations,inventory
processes,and intricate regulations to customers
Ability to communicate clearly and work well in a team environment
Willingness to work in harsh field conditions to gain familiarity
with regulated industries
Salary
The selected candidate for this position may be brought in as
an Environmental Scientist I with a salary range of $22.79-$34.23 per
hour,an Environmental Scientist II with a salary range of
$26.82-$40.29 per hour ([both with the potential to move up
to]{style=color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-align: left;text-indent: 0.0px;}
an Environmental Scientist III),or as an Environmental Scientist III
with a salary range of $31.56-$47.42 per hour. This position will
typically be filled at the level one (I) or two (II),depending upon
experience.
Preferences
Preference may be given to those with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science,Environmental
Engineering,Mathematics or relevant field. However,relevant experience
