SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
The Research Scientist for the EPSCoR Center for Advanced Surface Engineering (CASE) reports to the Center Director and is responsible for:
* Helping with the installation of a 3D laser lithography system
* Training CASE faculty and students on the use of instrumentation, scheduling use, service, and/or repair
* Prepare reports on use, maintenance, and repair/operational and work done
* Submit requisitions for needed materials and purchase emergency supplies as needed in order to perform work or make necessary repairs
* Maintain records, analyze operating cost, and prepare report on sustainability
* Develop processes that use the 3D laser lithography system to benefit CASE researchers
* Develop imaging procedures that use the laser scanning microscope to benefit CASE researchers
* Write a training manual for using the 3D laser lithography system
* Write a training manual for using the laser scanning microscope
* Develop a strong working relationship with CASE researchers and reduce all obstacles facing faculty and student use of the equipment and encourage high usage of the equipment.
* Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

* Bachelor s degree with an emphasis in science or engineering
* At least seven years of related experience and demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: laser physics, nanofabrication, microfabrication, polymer science, nanomaterials, biomaterials, electrochemical processing, and process integration

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Successful journal publication record in laser physics, nanofabrication, microfabrication, polymer science, nanomaterials, biomaterials, electrochemical processing, and process integration
* Experience in fabricating micro/nano-scale structures and materials using direct laser writing technique and characterizing them using laser scanning microscope
* Experience in 3D printing and E-beam lithography

Excellent written and oral communication skills
