Corning is looking for a scientist to join the Corning Life Sciences division as part of the Applications team. This person will work to support customers through the development and evaluation of new applications for CLS products, and provide new product/platform validation support.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Perform the duties necessary to provide technical support to Corning Life Sciences businesses
Skilled in working in and maintaining a BSL2 laboratory
Maintain and perform assays with mammalian cell cultures
Expansion experience with mammalian cell cultures for bioproduction
Knowledge of transfection and bioproduction procedures and safety regulations
Provide technical support for new application development and validation of new products, including:
Evaluate product attributes
Develop and execute testing plans for functional testing of product
Analyze, document, summarize and present experimental results
Lead training sessions for internal sales account managers and external customers
Keep a detailed laboratory notebook
Maintain knowledge of scientific trends and discoveries through conference attendance, interaction with customers and sales organization, and review of scientific journal publications
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40
Travel Requirements: 10-15%

Required Education and Experience:
BS Degree in Biological Sciences or Engineering
2 years of experience in a laboratory setting with cell culture
Required Skills:
Aseptic technique and experience in cell culture
Experience with BSL2 protocols, safety requirements and standard laboratory equipment
Ability to develop and execute experiments, critically analyze data and report results comprehensively
Computer literate with the ability to analyze data and operate software programs including Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism
Strong problem-solving skills and interest in trouble-shooting
Well-organized and ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
