Senior Scientist - Medicinal or Physical Organic Chemistry - Portland, OR

Job Profile
Schrödinger, a technology leader specializing in software solutions for life science research and development, is seeking a scientist with outstanding skills in organic or physical organic chemistry, particularly relating to protonation states (acid/base and tautomeric behaviors) of drug-like molecules. The successful candidate will be part of a team of scientists enhancing technologies for predicting pKa values. The ideal candidate is a driven scientist with an in-depth and broad ranging knowledge of the protonation behavior of drug-like molecules and possessing a solid team-oriented work ethic. Experience with molecular modeling particularly relating to drug design and software development is desirable.
Required qualifications include:
- Ph.D. in organic chemistry, physical organic chemistry, or equivalent area
- Extensive knowledge of the acid-base and tautomerization behavior of a wide range of organic functional groups used in drug-like molecules
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to organize large amounts of data
- General competency with computers
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience in drug development
- Experience with molecular modeling
- Skill related to software development including:
- Shell programming
- Python
- C/C coding
- Designing databases
