Codexis seeks highly motivated Scientist to join the Analytical Biochemistry Research and Development department.

Successful candidates will be part of an interdisciplinary, dynamic and enthusiastic team responsible for integrating Codexis’ core technologies with the design, optimization and establishment of commercial processes for the production of fuels and chemicals.
Responsibilities Include:
• Characterisation of the performance and microbial physiology of industrial strains for biofuels and protein production by application of metabolomic analyses.
• Interpretation of Metabolomic data using metabolic pathway databases and your deep understanding of cellular biochemistry.
• Development of analytical methods for quantitive analysis of small molecules using GC – MS and LC/MS/MS (ESI & APCI).
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to utilize the results of metabolomic experiments to drive strain engineering and fermentation process development.
• Report the results and implications of your experiments to a multidisciplinary team and document appropriately.
• Maintenance of a safe work place, and safe working habits.
Requirements
• Advanced university degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, microbiology or related discipline with minimum 2 years industrial experience or comparable relevant industrial experience
• Experience with the biological interpretation of metabolomics data.
• Strong analytical chemistry skills, with experience using GC – MS and LC/MS/MS (ESI & APCI).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills, documentation, organization, good record keeping, writing reports and SOPs.
• Experience with a wide arrange of analytical instrumentation is desirable.
• Working knowledge of fermentation, yeast genetics, molecular biology and metabolic and strain engineering is desired.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities, multi-task and remain flexible with changing needs.
• Must be motivated and able to work under tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail, safety and good laboratory practice.
