The candidate should be relatively comfortable with oral presentations to client audiences and also be capable of handling multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Job Description: The Environmental Engineer/Scientist will manage tasks for project engineers, scientists, and managers that involve research and analysis services for environmental compliance and pollution prevention projects. Responsibilities may include researching regulations and compliance strategies; conducting compliance audits and environmental baseline surveys; preparing compliance permits, reports, and other documents; and providing oral presentations to client teams. Other responsibilities include communicating and interacting with project managers, other team engineers, project staff, and clients effectively.Example projects include:• Developing/updating compliance plans such as storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) plans, facility response plans (FRPs), and hazardous waste management plans (HWMPs);• Preparing storm water discharge permits and other regulatory documents;• Researching regulations and preparing environmental audit materials and/or conducting compliance audits;• Participating in environmental baseline assessments and other due diligence activities and supporting the report-writing efforts;• Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, reviewing applicable records, and writing the report;• Conducting pollution prevention opportunity assessments;• Helping clients implement environmental management systems; and• Supporting the preparation of training, educational, or promotional materials related to environmental compliance and pollution prevention initiatives.• Environmental media include, but are not limited to air, waste (hazardous and non-hazardous solid waste), water (including wastewater, storm water, and drinking water), hazardous materials, pesticides, asbestos, lead, PCBs, and radon.Fieldwork will often be required to support the above activities.The candidate will be a part of a multi-disciplinary regulatory team, made up of engineers, scientists, and other environmental specialists that provide consulting services to the commercial and public (federal/state/local government) sectors, including the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, the aerospace industry, pharmaceutical manufacturers, oil and gas facilities/refineries, power companies, and other industrial facilities.
