Research Associate for Teacher Education Assessment
Job Profile
The Reich College of Education at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., Boone, NC is seeking a research associate to work with the college in the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of systems that provide access to ongoing data about the college and its programs, with particular emphasis upon addressing state and National Council of Association of Teacher Education (NCATE) requirements. The position is a 12 month non-tenure track position subject to annual review; salary range is $55,000-$60,000. The Reich College of Education (RCOE) Research Associate is responsible for working with the Associate Dean and Dean to *Communicate effectively with the commercial vendor that provides assessment services in order to assure that appropriate services and interactions with ASU are enabled *Coordinate teacher education assessment and reporting efforts, including *Work with the Unit and individual teacher education programs on assessment systems *Collect and analyze campus-wide academic assessment and survey data pertaining to teacher education and related programs of the RCOE and serve as the key contact with TK20, the vendor for the electronic platform that serves as the framework for approximately 21 undergraduate teacher education programs and 22 graduate programs in collecting candidate performance data used to meet state and national accreditation standards and processes *Work with the RCOE technology group with survey and assessment development (on-line and paper formats) *Conduct training workshops for both faculty and students in use of the college's assessment system features *Provide data file cleanup in order to assure smooth syncing between ASU systems and the commercial vendor supplying assessment services *Collect and analyze data in support of developing reports for university, state, and federal agencies *Disseminate and/or present assessment analyses and reporting results to appropriate individuals, departments, committees, or councils *Serve as a member of the college's and university's assessment committees *Assist with the development and implementation of tracking systems for undergraduate and graduate field experiences, including internships and *Development of a useful education field experience tracking system *Design a system that includes both access to, and dissemination of, individual school and LEA (school system) diversity and overall placement data, *Extract annually from the State Department of Public Instruction data systems and reports, appropriate data for the Unit and program areas *Conduct statistical research studies (one-time or continuous), including *Student recruitment and retention studies *Research studies on entrance, exit and licensure exams, i.e. Praxis I and II, SAT, ACT, MAT and GRE ·Studies which merge teacher candidate performance assessment data with institutional data *Ad hoc data or assessment requests for the Unit or specific teacher education programs *Work with the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment & Planning or other University offices, such as the Registrar or Information Technology Services, to acquire necessary data to meet the needs of college and/or departmental and/or program area research agendas *Represent the University and the Reich College of Education, and contributing to the profession, by attending and presenting research and/or methodologies at professional meetings and conferences Qualifications *Master's degree or higher in educational psychology, higher education, education, or a closely allied field with a focus in assessment and evaluation *One-three years experience in higher education; experience with teacher education preferred *Proven knowledge and experience in research design, quantitative and qualitative assessment strategies and instruments; data collection methodologies, and quantitative and qualitative analysis strategies *Knowledge of higher education institutional and assessment data systems and statistical research methodology using statistical research packages such as SAS or SPSS *Proven experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and staying within predetermined project parameters *Proven experience using Access, Excel, Powerpoint, and working with a variety of electronic data bases; experience with Banner strongly preferred *Evidence of strong organization and project management skills *Evidence of strong oral and written communication and presentation skills *Proven ability to work well and communicate effectively with diverse members of the university community, including administrators, faculty and staff *Experience with or knowledge of the TK-20 Assessment Package will be an advantage.
