Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a mid-level geologist for employment to be a task leader for a variety of environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) for the Federal sector. The successful candidate will have at a minimum a BS in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science with a successful work history of environmental investigation and remediation projects.

A minimum of 2 years experience in response and environmental investigations and through site clean-up and closure. Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety is imperative. Field work may be required including oversight of subcontractors.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:


Performs standard scientific work requiring the application of techniques and procedures.
Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under general supervision.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


BA/BS degree in Geology or Science 2 years of experience within the consulting industry, demonstrating technical leadership in conducting remedial investigations and design.
Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.
US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites
Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations
Valid Driver's License
Must successfully pass pre-employment background check


Preferred Qualifications:


Master’s Degree in Geology or related discipline.
Possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination
Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.
Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures
Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.
Knowledgeable and experienced working on State of Hawaii, Department of Health TGM, SCP, and local environmental regulation
Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, and time management.
Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.
Able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.

Salary

Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation Washington will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000.
