This is a full-time, exempt position,
MAIN FUNCTION:
The Scientist position requires an entry to mid-level scientist with a knowledge of analytical instrumentation. The focus of the work will be to conduct with the analysis of volatiles associated with flavor research. This position encompasses sample preparation, analysis of samples with GCMS & GCO, and the analysis of data, interpretation and reporting of results.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Minimum B.S. or M.S. in Food Science, Chemistry or related field; Ph.D. preferred.
Hands on experience of GC-MS is required.
Ability to flawlessly execute analytical processes using standard laboratory practices according to ADM’s work instructions.
Ability to troubleshoot, identify root cause and implement corrective action.
Excellent personal skills to collaborate with multicultural and multi-disciplined global teams is required.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate both underlying science and practical application of technologies
DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:
The Scientist is an entry level research position responsible for the execution and reporting of flavor related projects within provided timelines. Projects will require sample preparation, operation of instruments such as GCMS, analysis of data and interpretation and reporting of results.
This position will require periodic sensory evaluation of flavors and/or flavor compounds, as well as olfactory evaluation using GCO.
Maintain laboratory notebook, instrument performance logs and control charts will be required.
This position will contribute as a member of a small team focused on flavor research. Collaboration with flavorists, analytical scientists, data scientists and sensory scientists is required.
The position may require some travel.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Project Management
Use of technical knowledge to identify and deliver analytical project requirements.
Understanding of project prioritization and ability to pivot work to deliver high priority projects on short timelines, when needed
Document, organize and report all data during participation in multiple ongoing projects
Communicate project results and key learnings within group and on cross functional teams
Analytical Testing
Contribute in development of new methods, as required
Conduct analytical testing associated with projects delivering results within project timelines
Independently execute technical projects
