Responsibilitiesnn Prepares and analyzes environmental samples for organic environmental analysis using GC/MS, GC/ECD, or gC/MS TOF instrumentation.n Performs a variety of chemical tests and is knowledgeable of instrumental techniques.n Screens and logs in samples into LIMS, prepares samples for laboratory analysis, maintains equipment, orders supplies.n Uses LIMS and ChemStation software to perform data analysis.n Participates in planning & strategy meetings.n Suggests modifications to existing protocols & standing operating procedures, equipment, processes or techniques.n Performs new analytical methods development.n Participates in evaluation process to include set up, operation & monitoring of equip & apparatus, & more complex experimental procedures involving novel samples.n Performs laboratory maintenance.n Summarizes & records data in official notebooks, orders supplies & maintains a safe working environment. Performs a variety of tasks.n Works under minimal supervision and reports to the PHILIS Supervisor/Lead Chemist. nnQualificationsnn BS in Chemistry or Physical Sciencen requires a physical science bachelor's degree and 6 to 10 years of experience in an analytical laboratoryn Experience with Organic Environmental Analysisn Experience with GC/MS, GC/ECD or GC/MS TOF n Experience with LIMS operationsn Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within an environmental laboratoryn Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsnnCSS is predominantly a Federal Contractor and is subject to following the terms of Executive Orders.
