Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist to be based in our Green Bay, WI office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line.
This position is expected to begin in June 2023.
The successful candidate will assist with a variety of challenging projects including data management, site investigations, and remediation. They will assist with gathering and analyzing environmental data in both the field and office settings.
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
Groundwater sampling
Gas monitoring at landfills or other environmental sites
Screening for contaminated soils with a Photoionization Detector (PID)
Performing site inspections at railroad yards and other industrial sites
Assisting with emergency response documentation for environmental spills
Documenting activities during soil boring drilling activities
Classifying soils and bedrock for Geotechnical analysis
Performing select geotechnical lab work
Documenting construction activities such as those at environmental remediation sites, landfills, roadways, or civil site developments
Performing field testing such as those associated with concrete and soil compaction
Using survey equipment
Formalizing field notes
Preparing figures in GIS and/or AutoCAD
Preparing soil boring logs
Developing reports
Developing photo logs
Creating construction documentation reports
Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.
Field work will be required including oversight of subcontractors.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Geological Sciences, or related field of study
Must have a valid U.S. Driver's license
Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Possesses technical report writing skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Independent field worker.
Current 40 hour HAZWOPER training.
Current First Aid/CPR training.
Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs; MS Word and MS Excel, etc
Additional Information
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
Ability to travel up to 70% to various job sites locally or regionally to support project work is required for this role.
Candidates may be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record screening and/or medical surveillance screening upon hire.
