Responsibilities As a Research Oceanographer within the Pacific Coastal & Marine Geology Science Center, some of your specific duties will include: Provides scientific expertise in understanding, measuring, modeling and predicting shelf and estuarine sediment transport processes, coastal change in arctic and active-margin settings, and coastal hazards associated with climate change.Develop numerical modeling tools to aid in identifying climate-driven changes in sediment transport and geomorphic evolution within protected embayments. The models will be developed and validated by a complex network of discrete physical process measurements (e.g., tidal currents, waves, water levels, sediment transport) and robust boundary conditions (e.g., grain size, multibeam bathymetry, Lidar).Develop partnerships with other federal, state, and local agencies to write successful proposals for reimbursable funding and to deliver timely results as required by the agreements.Authors publications in peer-reviewed journals that document new concepts, techniques, materials, or products, and is recognized by the scientific community as a significant contributor to the field of study. This experience is typically performed at the post-doctorate level.
