EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC is seeking a Senior Scientist for our growing environmental consulting practice in our Hunt Valley, Maryland office. This position will provide project and client management depth to our sediment, port, and water infrastructure permitting practice.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management and performance of investigations and impact analysis of aquatic ecosystems (freshwater, estuarine, and marine systems), permitting and mitigation for water-based projects, dredged material management, sediment characterization related to navigation and remediation projects, and aquatic restoration initiative. Investigations may include, but not be limited to, sediment characterization, ecotoxicological studies, aquatic resource studies, fish and invertebrate tissue contaminant studies, and water quality assessments. Responsibilities will also include technical writing, client interaction, subcontractor management, proposal preparation, cost estimating, and project scope development and execution.
Education and Experience:
Ideal candidate should have a MS degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience or a BS degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience of increasing responsibility in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Oceanography, or related field.
Strong background and understanding of biology/ecology of aquatic environments, including the Chesapeake Bay and other aquatic and coastal environments. Experience in environmental chemistry and/or geology as demonstrated through past project and coursework. Understanding of port and harbor development practice/initiatives. Field sampling and data analysis experience related to water quality, sediment quality, and aquatic communities. Understanding of CWA, NEPA, CERCLA, RCRA, NDPES, and other regulatory programs/requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability/interest in project management, proposal development, and business development initiatives.
