Cardno Government Services is seeking a Marine Scientist in our Honolulu office.

Cardno is working with agencies and regulators to implement a range of environmental permitting and habitat sustainment projects in the Pacific. The overall purpose of the position is to support these projects in a team environment as a subject matter expert, a technical writer, and a field data collector. The nature of the work is marine and terrestrial, including flora and fauna.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Completing assigned tasks in a team environment, on-schedule, and on-budget

• Knowledge-sharing, research, and collaborative information-gathering

• Writing and peer review of technical documents, briefs, presentations, and technical contributions to graphics - particularly within the scope of Pacific regional wildlife biology and DoD lands • Providing field data collection assistance with emphasis on scuba-based work in coral reefs, assembly and use of sampling gear, training in the use of new field methods • Manage or co-manage an AAUS scientific diving program with the capability to instruct staff

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

BS or MS in biology, ecology, or similar field

6-10 years professional experience with federal government natural resources agencies/projects and at least 3 years of experience with DoD agencies/projects involving watershed management, natural resources management, and wildlife biology.

Must have intimate knowledge of and experience with Endangered Species Act (ESA), Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act (FWCA), and Integration Natural Resource Management Plans (INRMP). Experience must include developing and providing technical recommendations for natural resources monitoring, mitigation, and agency consultations.

At least 3 years of experience within the Pacific/Oceania is required.

Successful candidates will also have at least 3 years supervisory or oversight experience.

Successful candidates will be experienced scientific scuba divers with American Academy of Underwater Sciences (certified diving instructor preferred).

Successful candidates will be able to accurately field ID a selection of relevant native and exotic flora and fauna in terrestrial, coastal, and nearshore settings.
