Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The Digital Agriculture Innovations Team within the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking qualified candidates for a Scientist I position. This position will lead an active research program focused on agricultural machinery technology and crop production systems.
This position will utilize engineering and statistical design skills to design, implement, and evaluate results from complex research focused on soil-machine interactions and job quality in corn production systems. The candidate will be expected to develop research funding proposals, generate sponsor research reports, and publish results in peer reviewed journals.
The successful candidate will be a motivated, self-starter and have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment made up of staff and graduate students. The candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills; be detail oriented; and have the ability to balance and prioritize tasks. The candidate will develop project timelines, meet project cost criteria, produce exceptional results, and maintain a safe working environment. Flexible scheduling during peak project periods is expected.
This position is part of the ISU Digital Agriculture Innovation Team (www.isudigitalag.org). This team of professional staff and graduate students work closely with agricultural industry partners to develop innovative technology solutions for agriculture. The team has a strong innovation record with over 25 patents and licensed technologies. Required Education and Experience
Ph.D. or other professional degree and 5 years of related experience.
Supplemental Required Education and Experience
Agricultural experience associated with row crop production.
Preferred Education and Experience
PhD in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering or similar field.
Experience serving as investigator on research grants.
Experience publishing peer reviewed journal articles.
Experience leading complex research projects focused on soil-machine interaction and plant development.
Experience with guiding both engineering and agronomic science research.
