This role requires an individual with a strong data analytics, machine learning, and programming foundation to join an exciting, high-growth environment. The Machine Learning Engineer will have the opportunity to solve complex issues in the transportation industry by applying cutting edge technology and the latest algorithms. This will require working with stakeholders to translate business problems into predictive models and optimization programs, and implementing these with professional software engineering skills. If you love solving complex problems using data this will be the job for you.Primary Responsibilities:25% Define: Work across multiple teams and stakeholders to solve business problems using a data-driven approachWork with stakeholders to understand and analyze highly complex business requirementsTranslate business requirements into innovative, data-driven solutions that leverage Machine LearningApply best practices to document and communicate proposed solutionsDefine data requirements to build complex predictive models60% Develop: Build production-grade Machine Learning pipelinesWork in a team environment to plan, coordinate, and execute project tasksPerform data analysis, visualization, data mining, and feature engineeringImplement software to efficiently clean and transform large data setsApply expertise in Machine Learning and Statistical Methods to develop predictive models and optimization programsApply industry best practices to evaluate Machine Learning modelsDevelop scalable, efficient, and automated Machine Learning pipelines that are ready for production15% Deploy and Monitor: Successfully deploy models to production and ensure they maintain accuracy over timeCollaborate across teams to deploy Machine Learning pipelines to productionDevelop tools and methods to monitor for and correct model driftRequired Skills:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities3 years experience performing data analysis, data engineering, and Machine Learning model design and development3 years experience using the Python language and the Python based machine learning stack (including numpy, scikit-learn, Pandas, Jupyter)3 years experience using Big Data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, and KafkaExperience with data science methodologies (particularly CRISP-DM)Fluent in Unsupervised and Supervised Machine Learning techniques including Regression, Decision Trees, Clustering, Neural Networks, and Anomaly DetectionExperience using model validation techniques and metrics (accuracy, precision, recall, etc.)Fluent in SQLExperience with SQL and NoSQL data stores (such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch)Experience using Agile development methodologies (particularly Scrum)Experience with modern source code management tools (such as Git)Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountabilityAbility to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environmentAbility to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detailsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsContinual learner with a desire and ability to learn new skills and technologiesPreferred Skills:Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field (Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, etc.)Prior experience in Operations ResearchPrior experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet managementTrimble Inc. is proud to be an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer and considers qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, gender, age, color, religion, national origin, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, status as a covered veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws, or any other protected factor.
