Description:FESQA Scientist-Food & Essentials Recall (Level 5)Team: Food & Essentials Safety and Quality Assurance (FESQA)Pyramid: Legal AffairsThis position reports to: FESQA Sr. Manager, Recalls & Regulatory Compliance (RRC)Description:This position supports the Target Food & Essentials Recall Program to assure recalled products are removed within Target’s supply chain and stores in order to protect the guest. This position conducts recall/withdrawal headquarters-related actions to initiate recall disposition actions at stores and distribution centers (DCs). Responsibilities include store and DC compliance monitoring, agency reporting and maintenance of recall records. This position relies on an understanding of Target’s internal databases and how to manipulate key data to form actionable reports. Additionally, this position actively monitors and responds to store and DC inquiries on recall-related matters including assistance with agency recall effectiveness checks. This position works closely with the Food & Essentials Recall Program Lead and other FESQA teams in addition to Buyers, Planning Analysts, Stores, Distribution, Legal Affairs, recalling firms (vendors) and regulatory agencies.As a FESQA Scientist for Food & Essentials Recalls, primary responsibilities are as follows:Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the food and essentials recall process and all associated systems and applications.Ensure completion, documentation and accuracy of required recall actions Support recalls during after-hours and weekends on a rotating basis to ensure effective 7-day recall support.Provide recall information and reporting to regulatory agencies, as required, by email or phone.Assist stores and DCs during agency recall effectiveness checks.Escalate regulatory contacts, as necessary, to assure appropriate actions are taken.Review Food and Essentials national brand urgent guest contacts to assure vendor and buyer awareness of potential Food and Essentials safety matters following an established protocol.Monitor and respond to recall-related inquiries from stores and DCs in a timely manner.Ensure recall documentation is maintained in accordance to requirements.Provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements.Ensure management, internal partners and leadership are informed of recalls and escalated issues, as warranted.Work with technical and project teams on database system enhancements or replacements to ensure recall requirements are addressed.Uses knowledge of Target databases to develop actionable reports that meet the needs of business partners.Develop, maintain and report on key recall metrics.Provide back-up to the FESQA Recall Program Lead, as necessary.Provide reporting and system support to other teams within FESQA, as required.Requirements:B.S. in Food Science, Computer Science, Business Technology or related field.5 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance or technology supportStrong working knowledge of Excel and related reporting applicationsAbility to learn and master numerous Target systems and applications; current experience with Target databases is a plusAbility to independently collaborate and support strategic initiatives/projects.Ability to manage time and resources to execute projects and achieve goals.Effective interpersonal skills, written and verbal communicationAnalytical and problem solving skills with ability to apply good judgment
