Summary
You will serve as a Research Physicist in the Advanced Space Precision Navigation and Timing (PNT) Branch of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.
Responsibilities
You will provide expertise for research and development efforts related to Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) technology for spacecraft, ground and complex Defense systems.
You will assist in the development, integration, testing, and operation of precision closcks and timing systems for the Navy, Air Force, and other agencies.
You will provide expertise to the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) scientists and engineers on National, DoD and Navy needs and capabilities for high performance clocks, space based precise time and frequency applications and GPS technology.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 11-13) or NP-03 pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Research Physicist performing all of the following duties: Providing expertise for research and development efforts related to Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) technology for spacecraft, ground and complex Defense systems; Providing expert technical guidance on crystal and atomic clocks physics and electronic subsystems; space based navigation based on precise atomic clock technology; precision time and frequency metrology; and space qualification techniques for unique PNT components.

In addition to the specialized experience, this position has a Basic Education Requirement:

Basic Requirements:

A. Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.

or

B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
