Entergy is transforming its business through initiatives in Products and Services and Enterprise Analytics to develop new and innovative products that are responsive to evolving customer needs. This role will be part of Entergy’s Enterprise Analytics organization, working closely with the customer-focused areas of our business to ideate, create, forecast, and improve our product offerings. The Data Scientist – Products and Services will utilize data science techniques to develop insights around customer segmentation, propensity to adopt, switching, satisfaction/engagement lift, and demand elasticity. The successful candidate will create forecasting and adoption propensity models; develop product-specific models; manage on-going product Evaluation, Measurement, and Verification (EM&V) work, including selecting and working with EM&V vendors; and develop cost-effectiveness, bill impacts, and load-shape analytics using stochastic modeling and covariance analysis.
Forecasting product-related financial impacts; customer needs; product adoption/propensity; economic, environmental, and customer satisfaction impacts; switching; and other related customer insights.
Manage the EM&V process and vendors, including working with external parties to attest to Entergy results.
Developing custom offer structuring models for products and services which require unique or one-off analysis.
Collaborate with data scientists, information technology, data engineering, and customer-areas to create models and insights which can be utilized in other, on-going analytics efforts.
Partner with Load Forecasting, Regulatory Services, Accounting, and Resource Planning personnel to reflect how products and services may impact forecasted load, revenue, and resource planning.
Create cost-effectiveness and load shape impact estimates for products using stochastic modeling and covariance analysis.
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related field.
Preferred: MBA or other master’s degree in business or engineering field
Minimum experience required of the position
2+ years developing complex models in Excel.
2+ years creating forecasts, performing customer-related statistical analysis, or modeling customer insights.
Awareness of traditional simulation and customer-related analytics techniques.
Preferred: 2+ years working for an electric utility, competitive retailer, or vendor of products or services, Familiarity with reporting tools such as Cognos or Tableau, Additional modeling skills in SAS, R, Matlab, and/or Python.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Customer-focused / commercial mindset. Demonstrable ability to develop models, create customer insights, and utilize complex modeling techniques. Strong communicator both at tactical and strategic levels with experience discussing complex topics in a simple, easy-to-understand way. Demonstrated teamwork skills and ability to execute projects in a matrix organization . Strong, demonstrated writing and presentation skills. Creativity and passion to develop new, innovative products for customers.
