We are looking for a customer-focused Sr. Research Scientist who is interested in impacting key business decisions and customer experiences for one of Amazon\u2019s key business verticals, Kindle Content. We need your passion, innovative ideas, and creativity to help us deliver on our ambitious goals. As a Sr. Research Scientist you will be a key member of the Kindle Content Data Science team, which includes applied ML scientists, research scientists, economists, business analysts, data engineers and business intelligence engineers. Additionally, you will participate in the broader Amazon ML community and have access to the \u2018Best of Amazon\u2019 in computing, science, data, technology, innovation and thought leadership. This role will report into the Global Head of Data Science and BI for Kindle Content, and is based in Seattle, WA. Your work will directly impact business results by improving aspects of customer experience such as pricing, promotions, and product selection for various Kindle Content initiatives/programs. You will use reading, buying and browsing data to understand customer needs and turn that understanding into recommendations driven by ML and/or causal modeling techniques. You will work closely with business stakeholders and software development engineers to turn the models/algorithms into scalable products that deliver great customer experiences.
Basic Qualifications· M.S. in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field · 3 years of hands-on experience in predictive modeling, algorithm development and big data analytics · Experience with Python, R, or similar scripting language, as well as SQL or Scala for data manipulation
Preferred Qualifications· PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field · Significant peer reviewed scientific contributions in relevant field. · Extensive experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment. · Expertise on a broad set of ML approaches and techniques, ranging from Artificial Neural Networks to Bayesian Non-Parametric methods. · Strong fundamentals in problem solving, and model design. · Strong personal interest in learning, researching, and creating new technologies with high commercial impact. · Strong communication and data presentation skills.
