The Post Sales Surveillance Data team is responsible for early identification of emerging product safety and quality issues through data mining, issue analysis, root cause identification, reporting and monitoring. The Sr. Data Scientist will be working closely with other team members to drive technical strategy for the issue identification methodology, analyze new data sources, design experiments, test hypotheses and oversee roadmap execution. This role will also provide guidance on expanding the capabilities of the team through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining, natural language processing and visualization techniques. Finally, in addition to advanced analytics skills, the Sr. Data Scientist will be responsible for evaluating, integrating and supporting architectural designs for database and cloud computing environments.

Collaborate with the Post Sales Surveillance team to develop analytical approaches to identify potential emerging issues through data analysis and issue detection
Establish consistent methodology and roadmap for data analysis and organization
Determine data requirements and validation criteria for new data sources
Design and execute data quality tests for structured and unlabeled datasets
Manipulate high-volume, high-dimensional data from varying sources to perform data exploration, highlight patterns, anomalies, relationships and trends and apply results to business problems
Apply scientific method to design, create, tune, and interpret machine learning models
Drive discussions on user requirements and functionality with Information Systems teams related to Post Sales Surveillance team’s data and systems needs
Collaborate within the PSS team and cross-functionally to arrive at actionable insights
Clearly communicate analysis findings, summarize results and provide recommendations
Leverage organizational learnings to drive continuous improvements in data governance
7 years of work experience in analytics or statistical methods
MS/PhD education in a quantitative discipline (mathematics, physical sciences)
Excellent analytics and problem solving skills and ability to use data exploration to generate insights
Strong knowledge of statistical methods and predictive/analytical modeling techniques and practices
Previous experience with statistical modeling, text mining and analytics, and/or machine learning in a business setting
Proficiency with data structures, data preparation, rationalization, and processing
Strong SQL skills for use in handling preparation and processing of large datasets
Working knowledge of R, Python or other programming languages
Strong written and verbal communication skills (technical and non-technical)
Exposure to AWS and Azure technical stacks
Demonstrated collaborative team leadership and engagement
Understanding of vehicle technologies including design intent, function and intended performance in the field
