The Microsoft News & Feeds team is looking for a passionate Data & Applied Scientist to join the Community and Growth team. The team is working on the frontier of transforming the News & Feeds product to a user and contributor centric experience, by building a vastly connected network of users and content creators, as well as driving sustained user and engagement growth via social mechanics. We are a full stack team with the end-to-end expertise to power through the full product development cycle.

Responsibilities


Lead and participate in design, implementation, and execution across a variety of features regarding machine learning, ranking and recommendation.
Drive innovations in machine learning applications, ranking and recommendation algorithms.
Invest in others’ growth, mentor team members, and help build a highly capable team.
Regularly communicate team progress internally and evangelize progress and opportunities to a wider audience includingmanagement and leadership.
Tech lead or manage a team of ML/data scientists.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


BS/MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operation Research, Automation, Physics, or other engineering or science fields
7 years industry experience in related fields OR PhD with 5 years industry experience.
5 years of industry experience with C#/C /Java/Python/Scala or any other OOP skills with a good knowledge of Data Structures/Algorithms.
Minimum of 3 year industry experience in machine learning, deep learning, ranking, recommendation and/or related fields.


Preferred Qualifications:


PhD with research experience in machine learning, deep learning and/or related fields.
Minimum of 1 year industry experience tech leading and/or managing a team of ML/data scientists.
Industry experience developing end to end ML/DL systems.
Have publications at peer-reviewed DS/AI conferences (e.g. KDD, CIKM, SIGIR, NIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL).
