Classification Title: Research Scientist\u00a0 Job Description: The University of Florida College of Pharmacy, currently ranked among the top 10 schools of pharmacy in the US, consists of two clinical departments (Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy; Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research) and three basic science departments (Medicinal Chemistry; Pharmaceutics; and Pharmacodynamics). Tremendous growth in the basic sciences includes the addition of internationally recognized faculty in medicinal chemistry, neuropharmacology, and physiology with substantial NIH funding. This environment offers unparalleled opportunities for an early career investigator to build an independent career in a highly collaborative environment centered around drug discovery and development. Dr. Charles J. Frazier, Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacodynamics, seeks a highly motivated early career investigator with postdoctoral experience to join his laboratory as a Research Scientist. A main goal will be to support funded studies on oxytocinergic signaling in the central nervous system, with an emphasis on revealing novel circuits and mechanisms through which endogenous oxytocin modulates stress responding, anxiety, and social interactions. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with in vitro electrophysiological techniques, and strong off-line analytical skills. Competitive applicants will ideally also have additional experience with optogenetics, quantitative two photon microscopy, and\/or in vivo imaging techniques.\u00a0 Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is an ability to work in a collaborative environment on projects that involve several laboratories and PIs. Applicants interested in ultimately establishing an independent research program will have opportunities to acquire technical skills and pursue opportunities consistent with that ambition. Preferred Qualifications: Direct experience studying mechanistic aspects of cellular and synaptic physiology. Strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
