Senior Analytical Chemist
Location: Rockland County, NY (Near Ramapo, Nanuet, & Tappan NY and Park Ridge NJ)

An opportunity for a Senior Lead
to support a process development effort. This is a critically important position
since ‘reliable data’ is a key to success
as they work to develop a novel process. The position will include a significant amount of self-directed work and mentoring
of junior employees. We just filled the more junior level Analytical Chemist position and there are additional Research Technicians in the Lab. The Executive Mgmt Team is now available to interview for this critical senior level position. (There were many schedule constraints the past month with investor reviews and other high level business but they are now ready to interview.) – So, call me if this position seems familiar!

They are funded by large well-known companies who are interested in the final product.
For example, an investor might be interested in a “green” source of plastic for making beverage bottles. Renewed funding has consistently been attainable via a stage-gate-like progress analysis. And as the approach the finish line for the first manufacturing runs, they are also adding additional sales staff to increase interest in their process technology.
Location & Cost of Living is potentially lower than expected (COL *103 +)
: HQ in suburban Rockland County NY with various types of areas to live in Rockland Country, with a low crime rate and several “Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence” and a lower than expected COL(120). -OR-
Easy commute from *Orange Country NY which is more rural having a lower COL (103). -OR-
For fun, live in NYC, but COL (180) is high, as expected.
(By definition the Nat’l Average COL is 100. bestplaced.net).
Much of the higher cost of living comes from housing costs which won’t be as pronounced for renters!

The Senior Analytical Chemist
analytical testing in support of process development. You’ll become the go-to ‘analytical instrumentation and methods expert’ in a highly collaborative company.
The Chief Chemist was recently promoted to VP Research and is hoping to free up his time to think more strategically. (In other words, he's swamped with work and very motivated to hire!) Our client is developing a novel chemical process. Your work will involve all-things-analytical: Hands-on testing, instrument trouble shooting, method development, procedure writing, selected ASTM and EPA testing, mentoring junior scientists & technicians, data analysis and formalizing data logging & data quality procedures. You’ll also take responsibility for on-line process sampling systems for efficient pilot plant data recording and processing. Instruments include: GC, GC-MS, IC (ion-exchange chromatography), and ICP- Atomic Emissions Spectroscopy.
Expert level skills working with analytic instrumentation and a history working as part of a Process Development team in petrochemicals or fuels refining. M.S. or PhD in Chemistry
5+ years of experience as an Analytical Chemist including new analytical methods development.
Petrochemical or fuels refining process knowledge as it related to analytical testing and sampling. (ASTM Methods)
Expert level skills troubleshooting analytical instrumentation used in petrochemical processing
: GC, GC-MS, IC (ion-exchange chromatography), and ICP- Atomic Emissions Spectroscopy.
Supervisory experience preferred
The position requires significant problem solving skills, excellent communication skills, initiative, and a strong pro-active approach.
