Business Line Environment Position Title Environmental Scientist II United States of America - Alaska Anchorage Job Summary AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Scientist for immediate employment for the Anchorage, AK office. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below: Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines\/fields. Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments. Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives. Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources. Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance. Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation. Analyze environmental impacts from project activities and develop written descriptions of impacts for environmental documents, with specific focus on biology, botany, chemistry, ecology, environmental, toxicology areas Coordinate with GIS on spatial aspects of environmental documents, presentations, outreach, or video deliverables Assist on a variety of environmental studies for land use and infrastructure projects including oil and gas, mining, power, water, transportation, and development-related projects in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest Support Natural Resources, NEPA, and permitting resource areas on proposals by researching requirements and assessing efforts required for permitting Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences or related field 2 years' experience successfully supporting environmental impact analysis documents and associated technical studies Strong research and analytical abilities Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously Preferred Qualifications Experience preparing environmental documents associated with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) specifically.
