As a staff scientist, several specific roles must be performed. They may include project management, technical oversight, client maintenance, business development and employee supervision. Project managers may have different roles assigned. The roles expected from each employee, the relative importance of each will be provided to you as part of your performance appraisal process. Within each role, specific duties will be outlined along with metrics used to evaluate performance. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists scientists, senior scientists, and principal scientist with management of projects
Assists with data gathering, preparation and interpretation
Assists with report writing and project coordination activities
Works with project managers and clients to ensure that project objectives are met
Reviews test data for accuracy and completeness
Verifies test results and prepare for reporting to client
Operates and maintains vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Travels to local and regional project sites
Required Skills
Knowledge of geology, environmental regulations and environmental investigation
Demonstrated ability to work within a project team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Effective fiscal/project management skills
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP) regulations
Knowledge of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations
Experience drilling and installing monitor wells and environmental related soil borings
Required Experience
Preferred Licenses:
Asbestos Inspector License
Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in geology, engineering, environmental studies or related field
1 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
OSHA 40 hour Hazwoper certificate
Experience in performing Phase 1 and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
The successful candidate will be encouraged to expand their skills and certifications through company provided training and mentoring.
