Material Scientist Roles and responsibilities Responsibilities: • Support of test and reliability analysis for semiconductor laser production, research and development work • Carry out failure analyses on semiconductor lasers • Develop methodology for investigating lifetimes and failure mechanisms of semiconductor lasers • Develop systems and methods for reliability testing individual laser die • Use free space optics, electronics, and computer controls to test laser devices. • Independent data analysis and presentation of results Location Ithaca Skill set Requirements: • PhD or equivalent with significant semiconductor electronics experience. Preferred fields of expertise are Materials Science, Physics, EE. • Familiarity with advanced semiconductor failure analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, EBIC, EDX and others strongly preferred. • Knowledge of statistical analysis of failure. Lifetime predictions. MTBF analysis. • Use of optical and electrical measurement equipment including OSA, power meter, integrating sphere, photodiodes, and current, voltage, and power meters • Comfortable preparing written reports and making technical presentations as required • Experience with LabView/GPIB software and systems would be advantageous. • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
