Summary: Senior Chemist/Material Scientist position that works as part of an analytical team under FDA and ISO 17025 regulations and guidance in the medical device arena. The position works with chemists and technicians that support research & development, product support and quality control. The position requires technique expertise in the areas of surface chemistry, report writing, failure analysis and materials characterization.Responsibilities: Sample preparation Analyzing and reporting surface chemistry testing from Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), Focused Ion-Beam (FIB), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and optical microscopy techniques. Authoring test plans/reports, instrument operating procedures, instrument qualifications and standard operating procedures. Documentation of findings in laboratory notebooks and compliance with all quality procedures and practices.Requirements: BS or MS in Materials Science, Chemistry or similar with 5 years of experience Hands-on experience with SEM, EDS, FIB, XPS, and optical microscopy operation and data interpretation Hands on working use of white light interferometer, X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, particle size analysis and mechanical testing Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work and be effective with minimal supervision Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills that are results oriented Strong ability to understand mathematical concepts related to laboratory data interpretation Experience with regulated quality systems.
