Job Duties include (but are not limited to):
Implement, maintain and support a common infrastructure with which to run these applications, including helping support the addition and integration of new applications and related software into the operational enterprise hosting environment.
Perform program analysis related to the following functions:
Maintain large and complex program/system; analyze program logic and logistics; improve efficiency; prepare program documentation.
Provide clear software documentation and operating instructions (hard copy and on-line where appropriate) for all developed software.
Build and install the developed software.
Provide troubleshooting for any developed software running in the clustered environment.
Provide off-hour support for production codes running on clustered environment as a member of a Team; on-call support will rotate based on the Team size.
Interact with customers to field questions on operational configuration, system performance and application support.
Support software testing and implementation including debugging, integration testing, and test reporting and documentation for application and associated scripts and codes in a real time, operational environment.
Provide training to the customer
Job Requirements (include but are not limited to):
The candidate should have a background that is focused on environmental sciences; a degree in Hydrology is highly desired
The candidate should have knowledge of basic computer science concepts, including programming practices. This is to support integration testing, software updating, system support, and the development and execution of test plans for the operational software.
10 years of technical experience required
Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, are required.
Experience in customer support is strongly desired as the candidate will be engaged in frequent communication with field offices, data partners, and other support offices.
Experience working in a Linux operating system such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux is required.
Knowledge in shell scripting, especially BASH scripting, is required; knowledge of the Perl and Python scripting languages is desired.
Working knowledge of procedural computer languages, such as C/C and programming languages is desired.
Knowledge of weather operations or numerical modeling principals is desired.
