Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking an Entry Level Environmental Scientist / Geologist / Engineer
to join our team in Peoria, IL.

Key Responsibilities
Perform field activities, under the supervision of a Senior Scientist or Engineer, including soil borings, groundwater monitoring well installations and collecting soil, groundwater, surface water and sediment samples, as well as documenting field activities
Field activities may also include oversight of remediation subcontractors during remediation activities including pilot studies and remediation system installation
Act as a data gatherer, prepare maps and charts, run simple computer programs
Perform field testing; use equipment and instrumentation
Interpret data and test results; With experience, may write complete reports
Prepare field reports, internal correspondence, sections of formal reports
Follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and provide all required permitting
Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements; prepare draft designs
Conduct engineering or scientific calculations; coordinate geometry; perform minimal design work, preliminary analysis, and layout
Approximately 50% in the field on industrial sites and 50% in the office
Will travel to project sites primarily throughout Illinois; Some sites located in adjoining states and may require occasional overnight travel; Company field vehicles are provided for field work
Skills / Qualifications
BS or MS in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering or related technical field
0 to 4 years environmental experience
EIT for engineers preferred
Analytical chemistry knowledge preferred
AutoCAD knowledge preferred
Must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills for database work and proficiency in MS Office
Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required
Willingness to travel to project sites in the Illinois area; Approximately 10 to 20% overnight travel
Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
OSHA 40 hour certification preferred
Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions
Field activities may require working in specialized protective equipment supplied by employer; Candidate must be physically capable of performing tasks in such equipment
Will lift equipment and carry laboratory samples which requires the ability to lift 40 pounds
