Associate Engineering Scientist
The Lane Department of Computer Science & Electrical Engineering invites applications for an Associate Engineering Scientist in electrical, mechanical and/or related engineering fields. This position will involve significant development responsibilities in the broad area of energy. The successful candidate will focus on supporting an existing team of multidisciplinary engineers in their efforts to develop new energy systems.
Required qualifications include a minimum of an earned B.S. in electrical, computer or mechanical engineering;knowledge of power systems modeling, estimation, fault detection and simulation and knowledge of CAD tools and simulation software such as MATLAB/SIMULINK.
The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources has seven academic departments, over 4,300 students, and 140 faculty members, with about $30M in annual external research expenditures. The Statler College is nationally recognized for high quality teaching, excellent research, and outstanding faculty and students.The Lane Department has 32 tenure-track fac­ulty members, 350 undergraduate students, and 150 graduate students. It offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering. The Department conducts approximately $5 million annually in exter­nally sponsored research. Strong opportunities exist for building col­laborative partnerships with nearby federal research facilities, including the Department of Energy and local industry.
