Research Associate Jobs description

Research associates are researchers who are paid through grants or contracts to work in collaboration with universities, research centers or private institutes. Research associates plan, implement and evaluate research in cultural, historical, scientific, educational and artistic programs and projects. One type of research associate is a clinical research associate whose duty is to monitor the progress and completion of clinical trials on behalf of a sponsor.

The chief responsibility of a research associate is to develop plans and research procedures within the budget constraints of the program, keeping in mind the methods to be used, the resources available and the number of staff assigned to the project. A research associate may also guide and supervise research assistants, statistical aides, data processors etc. Additionally, a research associate may also prepare project reports for publication and guide the implementation of developmental and training programs.

The minimum educational requirement for a research associate job is a bachelor’s degree in the required area of specialization (life science, finance, human resources etc) from an accredited college. Strong presentation, documentation, organizational, computer and communication skills are the other requirements.
