Microbiologist Jobs description
A scientist who studies the microscopic forms of life like algae, bacteria, fungi, protozoa and virus, and their effect on other organisms is known as a microbiologist. Different industries which have microbiologist job openings are pharmaceutical, toiletry, agriculture, healthcare, biotechnology, agriculture and many more.
The main responsibilities of a microbiologist are collecting and testing samples, tracking the development of microorganisms in the environment, conducting clinical trials of new products, developing methods to prevent infections and the spread of disease, developing products like vitamins, hormones, antibiotics, vaccines, new medicines etc. and testing drinking water, milk supplies etc for contamination. Additional duties of a microbiologist include maintaining current records, keeping up-to-date with new research and attending scientific seminars and conferences.
For entry level jobs in microbiology, a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, bacteriology or a related field is required. However, a master’s degree is important for advancement in the microbiology field. Clinical laboratory experience is preferred. Basic knowledge of computers and good oral and written communication skills are important.
