Scientist Manager Jobs description

Scientist managers manage and oversee the work of scientists. The chief responsibilities of a scientist manager is hiring scientists and support personnel, formulating program budgets, devising administrative policies, supervising the work of scientists, assigning scientific goals, conducting performance reviews and coordinating various scientific activities. It is the duty of a scientist manager to prioritize development needs and ensure the success of ongoing research programs. Scientist managers may also be required to help secure competitive government grants and government and private contracts. Additionally, it is a scientist manager’s job to ensure that the scientific objectives of all development and research programs are met in a cost effective, efficient and orderly manner.

Since scientist managers should have a thorough knowledge of the science field, the minimum qualification required for a scientist manager job is a bachelor’s degree in science from an accredited college. A degree in business is also helpful. Good communication, problem solving, leadership and administrative skills are also important.
