Archeologist Jobs
An archeologist is a person who studies prehistoric people and culture with the help of material evidence like pottery, graves, artwork, buildings etc. The main duties of an archeologist are surveying sites, conducting background research, participating in excavations, maintaining site reports and, project management.
An archeologist provides field and lab support to various excavation sites. The daily responsibilities of an archeologist include testing and data recovery projects, mapping, data organization, and documentation and logistics coordination. An archeologist may also have to perform certain administrative duties like preparation of cost and technical proposals, budgeting etc. An archeologist may also be called upon to publish his findings in scientific journals, and to give lectures and presentations of his findings to special interest groups, students or government bodies.
The minimum educational qualification required for an archeologist job opening is a bachelor’s degree in archeology or anthropology. Some experience in archeological field work is generally preferred. Archeologist job openings are available to candidates willing to travel; they must also be prepared for office, field and lab work.
