JP Morgan Chase & Co. is expected to receive John Kasich, the Ohio Governor at the company’s Polaris office campus on Thursday.  As reported in Columbus Business First, the meeting would include an economic development announcement on behalf of the company. Similar visits by the Governor to other companies have also resulted in addition of jobs in the recent past. Some recent companies to invite the Governor of Ohio in similar events include Zulily Inc. of Obetz, American Honda Motor Co. in Anna., and Kao USA Inc. of Cincinnati. The present move by the company was indicated in reports by the Columbian Business First, two month’s back.

JP Morgan Chase & Co. is the largest employer in the Westerville region and has about 18,000 employees in Ohio, with close to 3500 in Westerville.

Some recent efforts by the banking giant to create jobs include a recent donation of $10 million to Brookings Institute help America’s 100 largest cities grow jobs. The company has always maintained a strong framework of societal values and focused on helping small businesses that generate the largest number of jobs at home.

In a recent video, JPMorgan Case also committed to help 100, 000 veterans to find jobs.

Having recently helped to raise $4 million to fight poverty in New York through the Robin Hood Foundation, the company also has been credited for lending $12.6 billion to U.S. small businesses, only in 2011 and thus helping to create local jobs.

The company is also pro-employment in other fronts including that of interns.

In a recent news release, the company said JPMorgan Chase will double the number of engineering interns that it normally hires in 2012.  The company would join the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness initiative, which seeks to increase the number of engineering graduates by 10,000 per year.

The firm is committed to hiring engineering majors into its technology and operations programs in the U.S., and since 2009 has been steadily increasing the number of engineering interns that it hires each year.

The firm has teamed with Syracuse University and the University of Delaware over the last two years to develop a new approach in supporting America’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education program.
