According to Dictionary.com, the definition of science is the systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation. In simple terms that says that science is the study of anything that is observable or measurable. That means that science is found everywhere. Because of that there is so much that needs to be studied, tested and understood and that scientists are in everything.

There are different levels of scientists: some experienced and some professionally trained and some educated. Because there are so many scientific fields of employment, if you are interested in the sciences, you can find scientist jobs or jobs that lead naturally into scientist's jobs.

Conservation scientist jobs
involve many different areas. Conservation scientist's main function is to protect, manage, and improve the natural resources provided to us throughout the earth and maximize the use that they were given to us for while minimizing any damage to the environment. Some conservation scientists study and experiment with marshlands that support the life cycles of wildlife, insects, birds, and plant life. Understanding the importance of the ecology and ensuring that developers and industries do not disrupt the delicate balance is an ongoing issue that will create conservation scientist jobs as long as civilization continues.

Other conservation scientists conduct soil and water surveys, study and develop plans to eliminate soil erosion, research and protect the habitat of wildlife and create ways to preserve the balance in the face of man's encroachment on their environment, study ways to minimize the damage of wild fires, and many other areas.

If dealing with environmental and its conservation is not your scientific forte, perhaps you may want to consider clinical scientist jobs that are available. There is constant research into the effects that drugs, chemicals, and foods have on people, animals and the environment. Clinical scientists need to everything from the effect vapors from cleaning products we use have on our bodies to how medications interact with each other within the body. Clinical scientist jobs might involve forensic analysis, postmortem research on removed organs, or what products are effective in stimulating hair growth.

Because of the chemistry basis of clinical scientist jobs, having a degree in chemistry of a strong chemistry background will be extra helpful in getting a scientific job in a clinical setting. However, if you have a strong interest and a basic understanding of chemistry, you might be successful in getting a job as an assistant to a clinical scientist. This will help to increase your exposure and experience. If you are careful to prove yourself, you can perhaps advance in position within the company. Or, if the company has a requirement that you have a certain scientifically based degree, then you can explore your other options.

One of those options might be to see if the company has an education reimbursement program that could possibly help you to achieve a qualifying degree. Or you may be able to use the experience and good contacts within that job to help you attain one of the clinical scientist's jobs that are available that do not necessarily prefer a degree over practical experience.

Another of the many scientific fields that are available appeals to the sports enthusiasts: sport scientist jobs. There are many jobs that relate to sports for scientists. Some sport scientists need to analyze the characteristics and behavior of competitors in order to establish playing strategies.

Other sport scientist jobs will involve designing and manufacturing sports equipment that can be used to optimize sports performance. The sporting world obviously involved highly specialized equipment. From baseball gloves to water ski jump ramps and golf clubs to mountain climbing equipment, each item has dozens or even hundreds of different areas that must be analyzed, considered, implemented, and tested before having a product that will achieve enhancement results.

These are only a few of the scientific jobs that are available. If you want to work in a scientific field as a scientist, apprentice, or technician, begin by defining what areas you would most be interested in. Then start looking for jobs that might need someone with your skill set, desire, and trainability for their organization. Do not merely wait for jobs to come up, be proactive. If there is a company that you would truly like to work for that is whether hiring or not hiring anyone with your skill set, look for creative ways to introduce you to people who may be able to influence hiring decisions. Explain your passion and ask for an opportunity to prove your potential. By and large, employers would rather hire someone who is unskilled and will work diligently to learn, develop, and succeed than someone who has all of the knowledge, experience, and qualifications along with the arrogance that goes with it.

Having confidence and drive will help you achieve for more than a piece of paper ever will. Some of the greatest achievers of all time did it against the odds. The only difference between them and you is that they made the decision to take action. We are happy to put you in touch with all the science-related jobs we can. The next step is yours.
